Objective: To determine if central obesity can predict hyperandrogenism in female patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome at Albretch Hospital in Trujillo. Material and methods: A retrospective, observational study of diagnostic tests in 94 patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative and predictive accuracy were calculated. The chi square test was applied. Results: Central obesity has a sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative and accuracy of 78%, 48%, 77%, 50% and 70% to predict hyperandrogenism in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Conclusions: Central obesity has the value to predict hyperandrogenism in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome at the Albretch Regional Hospital in Trujillo.
