Objective: To demonstrate that male fetal gender is a factor associated with obstetric morbidity at Trujillo Belén Hospital. Material and Methods: We carried out an analytical, observational, retrospective, cohort study. The study population consisted of 192 pregnant women; which were divided into 2 groups: those exposed with male fetal gender and not exposed with female fetus; calculate the relative risk and apply the chisquare test. Results: Macrosomia is a morbidity associated with male fetal gender with a relative risk of 3 which was significant (p <0.05). Preterm birth is a morbidity associated with male fetal gender with a relative risk of 2.6 which was significant (p <0.05). Apgar low birth is a morbidity associated with male fetal gender with a relative risk of 3 which was significant (p <0.05). Preeclampsia is not a morbidity associated with male fetal gender with a relative risk of 1.4 which was not significant (p> 0.05). Conclusions: The male fetal gender is a factor associated with obstetric morbidity at Trujillo Belén Hospital.
