This study aimed to determine the frequency of the position of third molars with respect to the classification of Pell and Gregory in patients 18 to 25 years old attended two X- ray centers Images and Minot district of Trujillo in the year 2013. The retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive and observational study was conducted in radiology centers and Minot Pictures Rx and included a total of 1538 inferioes third molars, obtained from 769 panoramic radiographs. To determine the type and position classification of Pell and Gregory was used. For each X-ray data collection was recorded with a code, gender, number of tooth and position. The results show that the class and the most common position of the third retained mandibular molar was Class II, position B 32.4%, followed by the class I position B 13.0%, class II position 12.2%, class III position C 10.7% class III position B 10.4% and class I position a 10. 07. It was concluded that the most frequent position as rated by Pell and Gregory class II is the position B and gender and part number has no influence on this position Keywords: third molar, position, Pell and Gregory.
