Objective: To demonstrate if hypocalcemia is a factor associated with in-hospital mortality in patients with acute coronary syndrome treated at Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case-control study was conducted. The study population consisted of 150 patients with acute coronary syndrome; Which were divided into 2 groups: deceased and survivors; The odds ratio and chi-square test were calculated. Results: The frequency of hypocalcemia in patients with acute coronary syndrome died was 23%. The frequency of hypocalcemia in patients with acute coronary syndrome survivors was 11%. Hypocalcemia is a factor associated with in-hospital mortality in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome with an odds ratio of 2.45 which was significant (p <0.05). Mean serum calcium was significantly lower in patients with acute coronary syndrome who died than the survivors (p <0.05). Conclusions: Hypocalcemia is a factor associated with in-hospital mortality in patients with acute coronary syndrome treated at Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
