The artichoke crop, Cynara scolynus variety Imperial Star cultivated in Viru's valley, has favorable conditions for a good development; since the temperatures and the soil are apparent for a good management. The soils present a good physical structure and a good content of Organic Matter, with high level of Phosphorus and Potassium, the pH that is shown is neutral, the electrical conductivity is in a level of 2.86 mS/cm, that is to say ideal soils for this crop. The temperature for this season 2012 changes between 16 °C in August and 22 °C in December. The relative humidity also was ideal for the management of the artichoke and it changes between 72 % in January and 90 % in August and September. The preparation must be meticulous especially in the leveling; flooding is not permitted, it is necessary to plow to a distancing of 1.6 m between furrows and between plants 0.6 m, with a length of 70m and density of population 10416 plant / ha. The seedlings of artichoke must not be older than 30 days of age, the disinfection of these seedlings must be obligatory especially for fungi and nematodes, in which it must make a dip of the trays in the solutions using products from the technological package. This dip must not be longer than 10 seconds, in this activity the tray must be plunged until this one is covered by the solution, then it is necessary to air and stored in a place with shade, these trays must not have direct contact with the soil, must be placed on plastic or handbarrows. xi The fertilization in which I work for this growing season was of 280 - 152 - 330, was divided in 05 parts in the whole growing season. The phytosanitary control was in a low level, for which weekly evaluations were carried out. For the season 2012, the plagues that were presented with major incident were earthworms (Agrotis sp.) and mining fly (Liriomiza huiobrensis), in the diseases that they presented were Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Leveilulla taurica, for which they were controlled. To determine the beginning of harvest a sampling is realized randomly and when the area of work presents 65 % of plants with formed flower buds belonging to a gauge of 7cm of diameter the harvest begins. This is around the 100th day after the transplant. For this season 28 collections in average were done in a period of 100 days. Ending each of the collecting activity, the raw material is placed in crates and piled up in the collection in order to have the respective sampling by the processing company. The average of production of this season is between the 14000 and 18000 t/ha.
