In order to determine the level of family support and its relation to the level of esteem in the elderly, the present research correlational descriptive, cross-section was performed; during the months January to May 2014, in the Hospital Cruz Walter Vilches, Miramar Town Center, Trujillo. The sample universe consisted of 50 older adults belonging to the Elderly program. To gather information two questionnaires, the first is used to investigate the degree of family support and the second on the self-esteem of the elderly in the Walter Cruz Vilca, Miramar Town Center, Trujillo Hospital; the following results with respect to the degree of family support in 56% of older adults was high, 24% were moderate and 20% low; in the level of self-esteem in 78% was high, while 22% was low, reaching the conclusion that those who had low self-esteem 18% had low levels of family support, while 52% who had a high self-esteem also showed high levels of family support, being statistically significant relationship between the level of family support and self-esteem.
