In this thesis comes to designing a speech recognition system using the module AU_VOI_REC_00A, to control the movement of a wheelchair for the disabled people, where the user can drive the vehicle by choosing between two modes of operation, the first mode, through the use of a manual control and the second, controlled by voice commands. Simulated test result was obtained an expected performance, with a voice assertiveness 89%, because the voice recognition module captures the ambient noise. The consumption of each motor is 10 A and the whole control system is 1 A total of 21 A, giving an estimated 3 hours. It was found that the chair can basically move in four directions. Also, does moving speed increase when moving in front and curve. The system is very versatile as it allows you to configure speech recognition patterns for the use of different people
