To compare the antimicrobial effect in vitro of four concentrations of oil Origanum vulgare (oregano) against Salmonella typhi. Material and Methods: A comparative, longitudinal, prospective, experimental type was conducted. The study population consisted of whole inoculated with strains of Salmonella and generally apply oil of Origanum vulgare (oregano) observing its antibacterial effect for these strains plates. Results: In this study we observed that the ethanol oil Origanum vulgare (oregano) had inhibitory effect in vitro against Salmonella typhi by comparing the inhibition halos according scale Duraffourd 4 concentrations used for obtaining values above 20 mm 0 UFC, with the CMI 25%; it was observed that there was a dose-dependent difference because the groups were shown to have no statistically significant difference (p <0.05). This proyect has an efficiency of 100% on this measure strain against the ethanolic oil Origanum vulgare (oregano) Conclusions: In the present work demonstrates that oil Origanum vulgare (oregano) has effect on Salmonella typhi, with a minimum of 25% inhibitory concentration.
