The present research work aims to design an automatic system for the storage and dispatch petroleum plant of Olympic Peru-Piura Company located on lot XIII-A. Nowadays the company is doing dispatch using barges from shore to tankers, in this sense, the company plans to build a storage and dispatch station for crude, which needs to be automated, allowing efficient management in mentioned processes, in addition to reducing costs, delivery times and potential risks. The present research work was developed considering the problem proposed for the company Olympic Peru, for which it was necessary to use the knowledge acquired in control and automation, besides of standards for handling hydrocarbons. In the chapter I is described the current environment and the way of working for the stages of storage and dispatch, it is also proposed the hypothesis, objectives and limitations. In the chapter II is shown the theoretical framework of the concepts of automation and instrumentation used in the development of research work. The chapter III is developed in two parts (storage and dispatch), in which the same methodology is used to solve the problem; this chapter consists of mathematical analysis, obtaining the transfer function, it is proposed the piping and instrumentation diagram and it is also proposed the model and brand for each instrument that is detailed in the piping and instrumentation diagram. In the chapter IV are determined the costs of the project and, NPV and IRR indicators. Finally in the chapter V the conclusions that were obtained in the present research work are listed, which indicate that the project is technically and economically viable.
