Demonstrate that Helicobacter pylori infection is a factor associated with arterial hypertension in adults. METHOD: The present study is observational, analytical, cross-sectional. The study population was made up of 350 patients who attended the gastroenterology clinic of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo during the period 2018-2022, of which 302 met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, distributed into two groups: with Helicobacter infection pylori and without Helicobacter pylori infection, where the presence and absence of arterial hypertension was evaluated. Data collection was carried out through the medical records of each patient. For statistical analysis, Pearson's Chi Square test was used. Likewise, multiple logistic regression analysis was used. The association is significant with a value (p< 0.05). RESULTS: There is an association between Helicobacter pylori infection and high blood pressure in adult patients. Since the chi square test shows us a significant relationship (p 0.005); Likewise, the variables that are related to arterial hypertension are: diabetes mellitus (p 0.014), hypercholesterolemia (p 0.040) and age (p 0.005). Helicobacter pylori infection maintained an association with arterial hypertension according to the intervening variables of the study population. CONCLUSION: Helicobacter pylori infection is a factor associated with high blood pressure in adult patients treated by the gastroenterology outpatient clinic of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo in the period 2018-2022.
