Introduction: Low back pain is a very frequent disorder in the workplace, especially in the health sector, its involvement can have a great impact on the health professional as well as on the institution in which they perform their duties, an adequate prevention would help in some way to improve the relationship patient-health professional as well as health professional-institution. Objective: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with low back pain in nursing professionals. Method: Non-experimental, analytical, inductive, cross-sectional research; the study sample consisted of 47 nursing professionals. The Chi-Square statistical test was applied to determine the existence of a relationship between the variables; as well as the Cramer coefficient (V) to measure the strength of association of the same considering a p < 0.05. Results: The prevalence of low back pain was 53.2%. The analysis showed that sex, age, weight, body mass index, hours spent in the same position, spinal movement, lifting load in their shift, handling the load in their work, performing repetitive movements, carrying out activities with forced postures, knowledge about load management, working double shifts, work stress, work pressure, nervous tension were moderately associated with low back pain with a significance p < 0.05. Conclusion: Low back pain low is present in almost 55% of nursing professionals and indicators such as sex, age, weight, body mass index, hours spent in the same position, spinal movement, load lifting, load handling, perform repetitive movements, activities with forced postures, knowledge about handling loads, working double shifts, work stress, work pressure and nervous tension; are moderately associated with low back pain.
