Compare the in vitro bacterial adhesion of Streptococcus sanguinis and Streptococcus mutans in teeth subjected to whitening with 35% hydrogen peroxide and 22% carbamide peroxide. Materials and Method: The study was experimental and the sample was made up of 60 premolars grouped into GI and GIV (control), GII and GV (35% hydrogen peroxide), GIII and GVI (22% carbamide peroxide). The teeth of GI, GII and GIII were exposed to a culture of Streptococcus sanguinis and those of GIV, GV and GVI to a culture of Streptococcus mutans. They were centrifuged in thioglycolate broth and a culture was carried out on trypticase soy agar with a 100 dilution. After 48 hours, the colony-forming units (CFU) were counted. Statistical analysis was performed using the ANOVA test complemented by Bonferroni post-hoc. Results: The bacterial adherence of Streptococcus sanguinis was greater in GIII with 20x104 CFU/ml, followed by GII with 13x104 CFU/ml and finally GI with 65x103 CFU/ml. Regarding the bacterial adherence of Streptococcus mutans, it was highest in GVI with 76x104 CFU/ml, followed by GV with 41x104 CFU/ml and finally GIV with 18 x104 CFU/ml. The difference between the groups was significant except between GIV and GV. Conclusions: Teeth subjected to whitening with 22% carbamide peroxide showed greater adherence of Streptococcus sanguinis and Streptococcus mutans than teeth subjected to whitening with 35% hydrogen peroxide
