The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between ‘Family Functionality and Social Behaviour’ in students of the secondary level of a Public Educational Institution in the district of La Esperanza. The study, descriptive-correlational, focused on 275 adolescents between the ages of 12-17. The sample identified was determined from the simple random probabilistic sampling method. The Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (FACES IV) and the Socialization Battery (BAS - 3) were applied. The results show a correlation between both variables, where Cohesion is correlated with the indicators: Self-control in Social Relations, Leadership, Social Withdrawal, and Social Anxiety-Shyness; while Adaptability correlates with Social Withdrawal and Anxiety-Shyness. In other words, adolescents who live in a family with positive affective ties, a close relationship between its members, and are capable of facing the adversities of life will show less predisposition to develop behaviours of withdrawal, isolation, manifestations of anxiety, and shyness in their social interactions.
