The present tesis was developed in the Huangacocha lagoon, its objective is to carry out the hydraulic design of the relief works for the Huangacocha dam located in the district of Huamachuco, Sánchez Carrión province, La Libertad department. Subsequently, a topographic survey of the area of influence of the project was carried out with a drone. From the hydrological study we carried out the delimitation of the Huangacocha lagoon basin with the application of GIS software and the Hec-Hms software, obtaining the following parameters as results: Area 11.36 km2, Perimeter 18.69 km, Compactness index (K) 1.55, Length max. distance (Lc) 8.5 km, Form factor 0.157, Basin slope (S): 8.74%, Water network slope: 1.01%, Time of concentration 2.256 hrs, Orographic coefficient (Co): 1.51, Average height: 4137.29 m, Drainage density (D): 1.51 km. For hydrological modeling, results were obtained for return periods of (500,1000,10000) years with the Hec-Hms program. The creager weir, the buffer pond, the transition, the rapid and finally the rapid buffer pond were designed. The hydraulic model generated in the Hec-Ras software confirms the correct functioning of the designed spillway (Ties and Speeds). It is recommended to implement devices to control water elevation, such as gates or regulation valves, to ensure precise flow management
