Objective: To determine the influence of surgical time on the risk of surgical site infection following cesarean sections at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Material and methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted, including 192 patients who underwent cesarean delivery over a 5-year period, distributed into 48 cases and 144 controls. Results: A significant association was found between surgical time exceeding 60 minutes and an increased risk of developing a surgical site infection following a cesarean section. Other variables with significant associations were anemia and obesity. Conclusion: Prolonged surgical time, anemia, and obesity are important risk factors in the development of surgical site infection
