The purpose of this research was to develop a stock management system (SGS) to reduce inventory costs in the central warehouse of the Antenor Orrego Private University. The problem was that the central warehouse had not developed a stock management system, this result was obtained after having carried out a check list to evaluate the level of compliance, the result of which was 43%, also during the first 8 months of the study, there was a total of outputs for S / 208,731.00, unlike the average inventory that was equal to S / 1´453,837.00, observing high inventory costs, and the lack of control of these. For the development, historical data was obtained from 2016 to 2019 of the demand for the goods of the central warehouse, thus, the ABC analysis was carried out, which allowed determining the goods with the highest turnover and monetary value, so that the Class “A” goods were selected as the object of study. Afterwards, the coefficient of variation was calculated, which determined that those goods that are below the value 0.20, are developed with the EOQ model and those goods that have a value greater than 0.20, are developed with the periodic review model “P“. Subsequently, the demand for said goods was forecast, for this the methods of linear regression, moving average and exponential smoothing were developed, thus choosing the method that presents a lower error in the MAD, MSE and MAPE indicators. The following costs were then determined: maintenance, order, and order. Finally, the economic impact of the system was evaluated, calculating savings and profitability, as savings an amount of S/ 61,026.78 was obtained and with respect to profitability, it managed to increase by 35.07% for the year 2020, because developed a stock management system, where the optimal order quantity, the safety stock, the reorder point, and the review period were calculated.
