To determine the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive values (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) and the area under the curve (AUC) of the Revised Cardiac Risk Index scale (RCRI) and the Goldman scale for the prediction of cardiac complications in non-cardiac surgery. Methods: A diagnostic test was performed at the Belén de Trujillo Hospital. We analyzed 87 patients and the variables studied were age, sex, type of surgery, Glasgow scale, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, use of beta-blockers. Results: Cardiac complications occurred in 35.6% of patients. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and AUC of the RCRI scale was 55.17%, 79.31%, 57.14%. 77.97%, 0.76 respectively and for the Goldman scale the sensitivity, specificity, VPP, VPN and AUC was 48.28%, 79.31%, 53.80%, 75.41%, 0.73 respectively. Conclusion: The RCRI scale is more sensitive and accurate than the Goldman scale for predicting cardiac complications.
