Objectives: To determine whether family support is associated with increased adherence to treatment for substance use disorders. Materials and Methods: This study employed an observational cross-sectional design. The medical records of 105 patients treated at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo for substance use disorders between 2017 and 2019 were evaluated. Odds Ratio and the chi-square test were used to determine the relationship between variables. Results: Data was obtained from a total of 105 medical records of patients diagnosed with substance use disorders treated at the Regional Teaching Hospital between 2017 and 2019. It was observed that 72.4% (n=76) of patients over 18 years of age who received family support during their treatment showed adherence to substance use disorder treatment. On the other hand, 9.5% (n=10) of patients without family support did not adhere to the treatment for substance use disorders. Statistical hypothesis testing demonstrated a significant relationship (p<0.05) between family support and adherence to treatment for substance use disorders. Conclusions: This study demonstrated a positive relationship between family support and adherence to treatment for substance use disorders.
