To establish whether there is an association between primary hypothyroidism and cardiovascular risk in adult patients at the Hospital I de Florencia de Mora de EsSalud. Materials and method: The type of study carried out was observational, analytical, cross-sectional, which included the review of clinical histories of 126 adult patients treated in the Internal Medicine service office of Hospital I of Florencia de Mora - EsSalud - Trujillo between 2015 and 2022. According to the selection criteria, they were divided according to the presence or not of primary hypothyroidism, then the calculation of cardiovascular risk was made with the PAHO Calculator. The data was analyzed using the Pearson chi-square test with the SPSS 26.0 package, to perform the statistical analysis and then present the results obtained, in graphs and tables with the Excel Windows 10 program. Results: It was found that the group of patients with primary hypothyroidism who presented low cardiovascular risk were 39 patients (37.1%), with moderate cardiovascular risk there were 30 patients (28.6%) and with high cardiovascular risk there were 36 patients (34.3%). Of the group that did not present primary hypothyroidism, 8 patients (38.1%) had low cardiovascular risk, 8 patients (38.1%) had moderate cardiovascular risk, and 5 patients (23.8%) had high cardiovascular risk. A significant difference was found between the average ages in the three groups of cardiovascular risk levels, the average age in patients with low cardiovascular risk was 51.3 ± 7.1, in patients with moderate cardiovascular risk it was 68.7 ± 5 and in patients with low cardiovascular risk was 60.4 ± 10.7 (p < 0.001). The Diabetes Mellitus variable is significantly associated with Cardiovascular Risk (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Primary hypothyroidism is not a disease associated with cardiovascular risk, the presence of Diabetes Mellitus is associated with cardiovascular risk.
