This study aims to determine the risk factors associated with non- adherence to pharmacological treatment of asthma in pediatric patients at Hospital III-1 José Cayetano Heredia-Piura in 2022. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The present study is analytical, observational of cases and controls, retrospective, made up of 116 patients with a diagnosis of asthma treated at Hospital III-1 José Cayetano Heredia-Piura during 2022 according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria, distributed into two groups: adherent and non-adherent to pharmacological treatment. Logistic regression and multivariate analysis were applied to determine the associated risk factors, and the odds ratio (OR) was calculated, considering a significance of p<0.05. RESULTS: The significantly associated factors were age between 6-11 years, mainly in patients with non-adherence to treatment (67.2%) with a significant association [p<0.001, OR 2.35 (95% CI 1.56-3.55)], history of asthma in a family member. first degree [p<0.008, OR 1.63 (95% CI 1.1-2.32)], consumption of 3 or more medications [(p<0.001), OR 7.52 (95% CI 3.3-17.13)] and previous hospitalizations [(p<0.013 ) OR 1.57 (95% CI 1.08-2.28)], likewise, the level of knowledge of guardians about asthma was low in patients not adherent to treatment (67.2%), with a significant statistical association [p<0.039, OR 2.19 (95% CI 1.03-4.66)] and the majority were dissatisfied with the doctor-patient relationship (63.8%) with a significant association [(p<0.009) OR 2.68 (95% CI 1.26-5.68)]. However, sociodemographic variables of the tutors such as educational level, marital status, employment status and income level did not show significant associations. The level of knowledge of parents about asthma was low with 57.76% CONCLUSION: The risk factors associated with non-adherence to pharmacological treatment are age, family history of asthma, previous hospitalizations, consumption of 3 or more medications, parents with a low level of knowledge about asthma and dissatisfaction with the doctor-patient relationship.
