Objective: To determine previous cesarean delivery due to placenta previa is a risk factor for placenta accreta at the Hospital de la Amistad Santa Rosa de Piura during the period between 2015-2022. Methods: Observational, analytical, retrospective, case-control study, which included a sample of postpartum women's medical records treated at the Santa Rosa de Piura hospital from 2015 to 2022, corresponding to a total of 144 patients, of which 36 were cases. and 108 controls Results: The proportion of deliveries by previous cesarean section due to placenta previa in patients with placenta accreta represented 88.99%, while 79.63% were without placenta accreta. A significant association was found OR 2.0 (95% CI 1.6545, 6.399). of delivery by cesarean section with placenta previa and placenta accreta, the average age was 20 to 35 years with 61% in the case group and 66% in the control group, sociodemographic factors such as urban origin with OR: 1.90; (95% CI 0.81 - 4.458) being cohabiting OR: 1.323 (95% CI; 0.455 - 3.845), gestacional factors such as multiparity OR: 6.26; (95% CI 5.800 - 48.965), a history of abortion and uterine curettage OR: 3.4505 (95% CI; 2.68 - 3.92) were considered risk factors. The clinical variables of the patients in the case group: 64% had preterm delivery, 56% had newborns with good weight, 78% had emergency cesarean section, 100% of the patients underwent hysterectomy, 78% underwent blood transfusions and 3% maternal death. Conclusion: there is a significant association between previous cesarean section and placenta previa with placenta accreta.
