Objective: To determine whether anemia is a risk factor for preterm delivery, José Alfredo Mendoza Olavarria Regional Hospital, Tumbes, 2020 - 2022. Methodology: Analytical, observational, retrospective study of cases and controls, the study sample consisted of two groups: 132 pregnant women with a diagnosis of preterm delivery and for the controls, two controls were used for each case, which is 264 pregnant women without a diagnosis of preterm delivery. The data were collected from the medical records of the José Alfredo Mendoza Olavarria Regional Hospital for the years 2020-2022, and the chi-square test and the Odds ratio were used for the analysis. Results: It was found that a pregnant woman with anemia has 1.778 times the risk of presenting preterm delivery. In addition, statistical significance was found between the variables (p=0.044). Conclusions: Anemia is a risk factor for the development of preterm labor
