The present engineering project deals with the study of traffic at the intersection Av. América Oeste, Av. Pablo Casals and Av. Mansiche located in the city of Trujillo, in order to evaluate the conditions of users within it. The evaluation will be done through a macroscopic model of the intersection in order to analyze the current situation and present proposals to improve the road problems that occur in the area, such as traffic congestion. The analysis is carried out through counting methods or gauging, supported by photographic equipment, for 7 consecutive days, in order to determine volumes of maximum demand and other data necessary for the study and simulation. This work will consist of several stages such as: Field data collection (vehicle counting in 15-minute periods for 7 consecutive days, geometry of the study area, traffic light phases, speeds, density, capacity, service levels, tail lengths, etc.); data processing (useful information is obtained from field data that serve as input data for the Synchro 8 software); the construction of the macroscopic model that will take as parameters the volumes, tail lengths, the average delay and the average speed. After observing the results obtained in real time, proposals will be proposed to reduce congestion in the study area. The low cost partial proposal that is chosen will be simulated and presented as an alternative solution to reduce as much as possible the traffic congestion in the study area. The conclusions and recommendations prepared will allow this research to be useful for future research related to the transport area and for subsequent studies of the entity in charge of transport in the city, such as the TMT (Metropolitan Transport of Trujillo).
