The research titled ““Proposal for the design of shallow foundations of buildings in the Urban Center of Miramar, Moche district, Trujillo, La Libertad““ aimed to examine, identify, and assess the characteristics of the soils found in the urban area of said sector to determine their bearing capacity. The research is characterized as descriptive and non-experimental cross-sectional. Regarding its approach, it is classified as applied, implying the use of data collection and compliance with relevant regulations to achieve the desired results. It was based on the fundamental principles of Geotechnical Engineering and Soil Mechanics, relying on the results obtained from field activities, laboratory tests, and data analysis, according to the guidelines established by Regulation E.050 for Soils and Foundations of the National Building Code. The objective was to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the soils through the strategic selection of exploration points, allowing for a thorough understanding of the stratigraphic profile of the research area. Following the criteria established by Terzaghi and Meyerhof for the design of shallow foundations corresponding to soil bearing capacity calculations, including the preparation of soil zoning maps for structural purposes, to suggest the most appropriate type of foundation for the study area. This strategy aims to prevent settlements and failures in built structures, which in turn has a direct impact on quality of life
