Nutritional risk in patients admitted to the ICU is considered a public health problem and its measurement is consensual for its determination using the NUTRIC SCORE. OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect on mortality of nutritional risk, established by the NUTRIC SCORE in patients admitted to the ICU within 48 hours of this or hospitalization. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Retrospective cohort study with census sampling of 291 patients admitted to the ICU. The nutritional risk was determined through the NUTRIC SCORE. The effect on mortality was followed up to 28 days. Descriptive and analytical statistics were established. RESULTS: Of a total 291 patients, 147 had high nutritional risk. When performing the bivariate analysis, the stay in the ICU and the days of mechanical ventilation were statistically significant but not in the binary logistic regression analysis when stratifying it according to nutritional risk, in the High Risk group. However, the RR was 0.723 and its CI: 0.531-0.984. CONCLUSION: The high nutritional risk determined through the NUTRIC SCORE would have an effect on mortality
