The objective of this research work is to determine how the monetary base, the exchange rate, imported inflation and the product gap impacted inflation in Peru during the period 2004-2022. The work was of an applied type, of a quantitative approach, of explanatory scope and of a non-experimental and longitudinal design. The sample consisted of the Peruvian statistical series of the indicators Consumer Price Index, primary issue, bank nominal exchange rate, Imported Consumer Price Index and GDP Index with monthly frequency during the period January 2004 and November 2022. . , which is equivalent to 227 monthly observations. Likewise, the econometric method used to test the hypothesis was Ordinary Least Squares (OLS). The main conclusions were: i) inflation has been influenced mainly by external and internal supply shocks; However, in the post-pandemic period, the strong increase in inflation was essentially due to very expansive economic policy shocks and, to a lesser extent, to fluctuations in the exchange rate and ii) the monetary base, the exchange rate, imported inflation and the product gap had a direct impact on inflation; However, only the exchange rate and imported inflation were statistically significant
