Objective: To establish maternal overweight as a risk factor for post-term pregnancy in Belen Hospital of Trujillo. Materials and methods: We carried out retrospective, analytical, cross sectional case-control study in a sample consisting of 52 clinical records of pregnant women older than 37 weeks according to the Capurro method of the Gynecology and Obstetric Department of the Belen Hospital of Trujillo from 2011-2017, who met the selection criteria. The Information Collection Instrument was used: maternal overweigth and post-term pregnancy Results: We analyzed 206 clinical histories of which 126 met the study selection criteria, of these we randomly selected 52 histories clinical. In the present study the overweight was present in 53.8% (7 cases) of patient with post-term pregnancy and 35.9%(14 controls) in a term pregnancy group, in addition to the following characteristics: 1: 3 ratio among cases and controls, x2 of Person 1.3 this trend was statistically not significant (p = 0.253), OR = 2.08 with 95% CI. The mean BMI of the cases was 25.34 ± 2.69 and the controls 23.88 ± 3.2 and 79.6% of the post- term pregnancies culminated in cesarean section, as well as the average age of the cases was 24.77 ± 6.72 years old and the controls were 26.46 ± 6.71 years old, where pregnant women older than 30 years old (2 cases) obtained an x2 of Pearson: 1.17 OR: 0.41 (p = 0.28) and the low degree of instruction (9 cases) obtained x2 of Pearson: 0.11 OR: 0.79 (p = 0.74). Conclusions: Maternal overweight is not a risk factor for post-term pregnancy in the Belen Hospital of Trujillo.
