To carry out a systematic review to determine if the consumption of carbonated beverages is a risk factor for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Material and Methods: This research systematized the available evidence from observational studies, for which a global search was carried out in various databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Ovid Medline, EBSCO, EMBASE, BVS and Google Scholar). The metadata obtained were downloaded and joined in a single file using the Rayyan QCRI software, for the bibliographic references ENDNOTE 20 was used and for the extraction of all the data of the included articles they were distributed in various tables in the Microsoft Excel 2016 program. Evaluation of the quality of the studies was determined with the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Results: Initially, a total of 20,578 articles were obtained; of which, after final filtering by title, abstract and full text reading, 16 investigations were included in the review. Conclusions: The consumption of carbonated beverages is a risk factor for Chronic Kidney Disease, this causal relationship is more solid if the pattern of consumption is taken into account, with the frequency of daily intake and the type of beverage being the most relevant.
