Objective: To determine whether chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a risk factor for all-cause mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Materials and methods: An observational case-control design study was carried out on 744 patients with AMI treated at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital from 2019 to 2023. The cases corresponded to 77 deceased patients and the controls corresponded to 667 surviving patients. The risk factor evaluated was CKD and was adjusted to intervening variables. Results: CKD occurred in 30 (39%) deceased patients and 134 (20,1%) surviving patients (p<0,001). The odds ratio (OR) for mortality in patients with CKD was 2,53 (95% CI: 1,54 – 4,16). In the multivariate analysis, it was found that the factors associated with mortality were CKD with OR: 2,45; 95% CI: 1,08 -5,54; p=0,031 and hyperuricemia with OR: 2,24; 95% CI: 1,59 – 11,35; p=0,004. Conclusion: Chronic kidney disease is a risk factor for all-cause mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction
