To investigate whether hypercholesterolemia is a factor associated with the degree of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in patients seen in the Urology clinic at the Belén de Trujillo hospital. Materials and methods: 121 patients were studied during the October 2022 to February 2023. The parameters evaluated for eligible patients included the degree of HBP, hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), arterial hypertension (HTA ), The specific prostate antigen (PSA) and age. Then, eligible patients were divided into two groups according to the condition of hypercholesterolemia. The association between variables was calculated with the Chi Square Statistical test of Pearson. Results: Age and PSA were significantly associated with the degree of BPH, while hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and arterial hypertension were not significant. Conclusions: Hypercholesterolemia by itself proved not to be an associated factor for the degree of BPH in patients at Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
