Objective: Determine the most preponderant factors that predict lower limb amputation in patients with diabetic foot. Material and methods: Observational, Analytical, Cases and Controls type. With a 1: 3 ratio between cases and controls, considering 68 as a minimum sample for each group. Results: It was found that in cases and controls patients older than 65 years had a higher representation 57.3% and 61.2% respectively. In PEDIS PAD, the cases presented more frequently grade III lesions unlike controls that presented 59% grade I. Hypertension had a p-value of 0.003 Chronic Kidney Disease with a pvalue of 0.888, the Heart Failure with a value p of 0.345, peripheral arterial disease with a value of 0.004 and retinopathy with a p value of less than 0.231. The duration of diabetes with a p-value of 0.007, the treatment received for diabetes mellitus had only a significant association with oral hypoglycemiant with a value of 0.03, and the dialysis had a p-value of 0.001. The diabetic foot history had a p-value of 0.004, the previous foot amputations had a p-value of 0.196 and the previous debridement had a p-value of 0.268. Conclusion: Comorbidities, sex and peripheral arterial disease were determined as an associated factor.
