The study aimed to determine if there are significant differences in the Burnout syndrome among university students of Human Medicine and Industrial Engineering of a private university in the city of Trujillo, 2020. The population was constituted by 121 students of both sexes, with an age average among 23.4 years, who were administered the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey Version (MBI-URPSS) instrument, adapted in Peru in 2016, and published in 2019, whose psychometric qualities have been demonstrated. The results were obtained by statistical analysis according to the Mann-Withney U test, obtaining a value of (577.833) and (P<.001), showing that there were significant differences between the contrasted groups. In addition, the most triggering data show that the greatest predisposition to suffer burnout syndrome occurs in Industrial Engineering students (86.5%) compared to Human Medicine students (60.9%), likewise, highly significant differences were evidenced for the exhaustion dimensions emotional, cynicism and academic self-efficacy
