OBJECTIVE: To determine the level of knowledge about Chronic Kidney Disease in hypertensive patients at the Hospital Jorge Reategui Piura 2018. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Basic, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study of primary information source. The population consisted of 113 hypertensive patients and for the collection of information a survey validated by the expert judgment test was applied with an alpha of crombach 0.8 which indicates a reliability of 81% with an error of 19%. RESULTS: It was determined that 100% (113) of hypertensive patients, 30.1% (34) have an adequate level of knowledge about chronic kidney disease, while 69.9% (79) do not. Regarding the level of knowledge about the prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease in relation to food, 93.8% (106) has an adequate level, while 6.2% (7) has an inadequate level. The level of knowledge about the prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease in relation to physical activity, 42.5% (48) has an adequate level, while 57.5% (65) has an inadequate level, and finally , the level of knowledge on the prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease in relation to the control of treatment in patients with arterial hypertension at the Hospital Jorge Reategui Delgado 2018, 71.5% (81) has an adequate level, and 28.3% (32) has an inadequate level. CONCLUSION: The majority of hypertensive patients have an inadequate level of knowledge about chronic kidney disease, as well as preventive measures in relation to physical activity.
