Objective: To determine the speed of the march and its relation with the functional assessment of the older adult Hospital de Apoyo II-2 of Sullana – 2018” Methodology: Observational, prospective, analytical, cross-sectional correlational study, the sample was intentional non-random the older adults that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and that was 93 patients. For the analysis, a database was used in the Excel 2016 program, and then it was transferred to STATA 10.0, software in which all the statistical analyzes were performed (chi2). Results: The average age was 81.92 The majority of the patients were married (46.24%). 45.16% lived with their partner, and 39.78% had secondary school; in the functional assessment it was found that 72.04% of the studied population presented mild dependence and gait speed, the short functional physical performance test showed that 35.48% of the patients presented a walking speed of 4.83 - 6.20 seconds. The bivariate analysis found that a walking speed in a time greater than 6.20 seconds increases by 8.87 times the prevalence ratio of severe functional dependence in the older adult (p <0.01, RPa 8.87 IC [6.13 - 12.84]) Conclusion: Speed of walking is associated with severe dependence as a functional assessment of the elderly adult Support Hospital II-2 of Sullana - 2018.
