Mealybugs (Hemiptera, Pseudococcidae) are pests that affect the vine. Its difficult control forces the search for more effective solutions including plant protease inhibitors (PPIs). From a collection of proteins from endemic plants of Peru from the Proteomics, Enzymes, and Active Metabolites laboratory of the Antenor Orrego Private University, a series of SDS-PAGE electrophoresis was carried out to visualize low molecular weight proteins. Based on these proteins, a review of protein inhibitor databases was performed to identify candidate inhibitory proteins. It was found that in most of the endemic plant families studied, proteins with molecular weights similar to the protease inhibitors in the databases are expressed, one of them being the protein phosphatase inhibitor. In the study, the families with the highest number of low molecular weight proteins are Fabaceae and Campanulaceae. The presence of the protein phosphatase inhibitor in the studied samples indicates a high possibility of inhibition of the digestive enzyme alkaline phosphatase of mealybugs. Future work should emphasize the analysis of these low molecular weight proteins from Campanulaceae, Asteraceae, Fabaceae, and Calceolariaceae
