In the context of the recent pandemic, concerns have been discussed about the relationship between COVID 19 in pregnant women and whether the risk of susceptibility to infection increased with pregnancy, whether pregnant women had a higher susceptibility to severe disease. Objective: To establish the association between SARS-COV-2 infection in pregnant women and premature rupture of membranes during the period March 2020 and March 2022 at the Belén de Trujillo Hospital. Material and methods: A retrospective cohort study was carried out in which 330 pregnant women were included, according to selection criteria which were divided according to the presence or not of SARS-COV-2 infection, the chi square was calculated and the relative risk statistician. Results: The frequency of preterm delivery and maternal anemia were significantly higher in the group of pregnant women with SARS COV-2 infection (p<0.05), the incidence of premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women with SARS-COV-2 infection was 17 %, the incidence of premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women without SARS-COV-2 infection was 7%, infection by SARS-COV-2 is a factor associated with premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women with a relative risk of 2.3, which was significant (p<0.05), in the multivariate analysis, I identified infection by SARS-COV-2, preterm delivery and maternal anemia as factors associated with premature rupture of membranes. Conclusion: There is an association between SARS-COV-2 infection in pregnant women and premature rupture of membranes during the period March 2020 and March 2022 at the Belén de Trujillo Hospital.
