OBJECTIVE: To determine if teletraining and the use of virtual platforms are associated with an improvement in academic performance in university students from Piura during 2021. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Observational, analytical cross-sectional prospective study with primary data collection using a non-probabilistic sample through a snowball sampling model; using the virtual platform Google Forms, after obtaining informed consent from the participating population. Data collection included self-administered surveys and data association through analytical statistics with a significance level of p<0.05 for interpretation. RESULTS: The analysis of participants reveals diversity in sex, age, university, year of study, and type of degree, with significant p<=0.05 values in age, year of study, and type of degree. Additionally, participation in training sessions and virtual workshops, as well as the use of technological devices like laptops, is preliminarily related to improved academic performance. Factors such as being over 20 years old and being in the third year of study or higher show significant associations with superior academic performance. Participation in virtual workshops, laptop use, having received more than three trainings, experiencing an improvement in academic performance, and having an increased average are also significantly associated with improved academic performance, emphasizing the importance of virtual activities and training for academic success. CONCLUSION: Teletraining and the use of virtual platforms are associated with improved academic performance in university students from Piura during 2021
