Nivel de conocimiento de higiene oral en pacientes con prótesis dentales removibles, atendidos en el Centro Odontológico UPAO - 2019

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de conocimiento de higiene oral en pacientes con prótesis dentales removibles, atendidos en el Centro Odontológico UPAO-2019. Materiales y método: El estudio realizado fue observacional. Se evaluó a 162 pacientes portadores de prótesis dentales removibles, atendidos en el Centro Odontológico UPAO-2019. Se empleó un cuestionario virtual formulado por el mismo autor, el cual fue validado por el juicio de 9 expertos y se obtuvo un nivel de confiabilidad a través de un estudio piloto. Resultados: El nivel de conocimiento de los cuidados, higiene y mantenimiento en pacientes con prótesis dentales removibles, atendidos en el Centro Odontológico UPAO-2019 fue deficiente con un total de 126 (77.8%). El grupo etario que predominó fue de 35 a 59 años de edad con un total de 82 (55.6%). Hubo un predominio del sexo femenino con un total de 106 (65.4%) con un deficiente nivel de conocimiento con un total de 78 (73.6%). Conclusiones: El nivel de conocimiento de los cuidados, higiene y mantenimiento en pacientes portadores de prótesis dentales removibles, atendidos en el Centro Odontológico UPAO-2019, fue un deficiente nivel de conocimiento en cuanto los cuidados, higiene y mantenimiento de sus prótesis dentales removibles (parciales y totales).

There was a predominance of the female sex with a total of 106 (65.4%) with a poor level of knowledge with a total of 78 (73.6%). Conclusions: The level of knowledge of the care, hygiene and maintenance in patients with removable dental prostheses, attended at the UPAO-2019 Dental Center, was a deficient level of knowledge regarding the care, hygiene and maintenance of their removable dental prostheses (partial and totals).
