Objective: To identify the frequency of patients with ocular manifestations according to the presence of ligament hypermobility. Material and method: An analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out in 200 patients, 100 patients with Ligament Hypermobility Syndrome (LHS) and 100 patients without LHS. Patients aged 6 to 50 years were included, who met the Brighton criteria. Excluded were: women with menopause, patients with connective tissue disease, DM, thyroid disease, smokers, contact lens wearers, or taking antihistamines, antidepressants, diuretics, contraceptives. The proportion in both groups was compared. Results: When comparing the frequency of patients with ocular manifestations, in the group with SHL ocular manifestations were observed in 80% of patients, while in the control group only in 21% (p <0.001). The prevalence of ocular manifestations in patients with LHS was 2,81 times higher than the control group (RP = 3.81, CI95%: 2.57-5.64). A higher frequency of cases of myopia, astigmatism and dry eye was found in favor of the group of patients with SHL (p <0.05); however, no differences were found in the cases of hyperopia, blue scleras, droopy eyelids and cataract (p> 0.05). In the group of patients with LHS, the most frequent ocular manifestations were: myopia (57%), astigmatism (44%), dry eye (14%), hyperopia (11%), and to a lesser extent, blue scleras (3%) and drooping eyelids (2%) and cataract (1%). Conclusion: Ocular manifestations are more frequent in patients with LHS than in those who do not suffer from this condition, with myopia, astigmatism and dry eye being the most frequent.
