To determine if anemia is a risk factor for urinary tract infection in children treated at the Hospital Belen de Trujillo. Material and methods: An analytical, retrospective, case-control study was carried out in which 114 pediatric patients participated, according to the inclusion criteria, which were divided into 2: with or without urinary tract infection; the odds ratio and the chi square statistical test were applied. Results: In relation to the frequency of female gender and obesity, they were significantly higher in the group of patients with urinary tract infection than in the group without this infection (p < 0.05); Regarding the frequency of anemia in pediatric patients with urinary tract infection, it was 34%; while the frequency of anemia in pediatric patients without urinary tract infection was 13%; anemia is a risk factor for urinary tract infection in children, presenting an odds ratio of 3.43, which was significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Anemia is a risk factor for urinary tract infection in children treated at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
