This research report presented as its general objective, to be able to carry out the comparative study between the AASHTO 93 Method and the Rational Method; which are used for the structural design of a flexible pavement, with the purpose of determining the best design of a flexible pavement in sectors 3 and 4 of Alto Trujillo. This research is of an applied, descriptive type, for the development of the research the non-experimental method was applied, in which a cross section was presented and with a comparative design, for this case, a data collection was carried out in the laboratory, in the field and technical reports. As a result, when developing the Aashto 93 Method, an asphalt pavement thickness of 7 cm was obtained and when applying the rational method, a 10 cm thickness of asphalt pavement was obtained. In addition, it could be seen that, within the economic sphere, the method Rational presented a high cost compared to the design provided by the Aashto 93 method. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that the most optimal design at a structural level is the one provided by the Rational Method, but at an economic level, it overlaps the design provided by AASHTO Method 93
