To determine meconium as a risk factor for puerperal endometritis in post cesarean postpartum women attended at the Hospital de la amistad Perú Corea Santa Rosa II-2 during the period 2018-2019. Methodology: A case-control study was carried out, including post cesarean section with and without puerperal endometritis, attended at the Hospital de la amistad Perú-Corea Santa Rosa II-2 between 2018 and 2019. Medical records were selected and general and clinical data were collected from the patients. Descriptive and analytical statistics were used to determine the association between the presence of meconium fluid and puerperal endometritis. Results: Those postpartum women in whom meconium fluid was identified had twice the risk of presenting puerperal endometritis, p<0.05, CI:1.16-3.11, OR=1.9. Conclusion: The presence of meconium fluid is a risk factor for puerperal endometritis in post cesarean section.
