Introduction: Intimate partner violence during pregnancy is defined as any attempt; threat; or physical, sexual or psychological abuse which is intended to minimize your self-esteem; and controlling behaviors by an intimate partner, which may be the husband, partner, boyfriend or girlfriend, ex-husband, with whom the pregnant woman may or may not be cohabiting. Aim: To determine the association between intimate partner violence during pregnancy and maternal anemia. Materials and Methods: Systematic review of observational studies in 4 databases. Three collaborators did the search, selection, data extraction and assessment of bias. The variables under study were maternal hemoglobin, partner violence, maternal anemia. Statistical analysis of the selected studies was performed, Odds Ratio (OR) was used to evaluate the effect on the variables. Results: Three studies were included in the systematic review, two crosssectional studies and one cohort. The analysis of the three studies reviewed, which included 1,391 patients, found that pregnant women with a history of intimate partner violence during pregnancy had 1.58 times the risk of maternal anemia than controls (OR: 1.58; 95% CI 1.27 to 1.97 ). Conclusion: The prevalence of intimate partner violence during pregnancy based on the evidence from existing observational studies is variable and is associated with maternal anemia.
