Objective: This study aimed to determine whether non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a risk factor for breast cancer in patients at Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital. Materials and Methods: A case-control study was conducted, involving 118 medical records of female patients treated at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department at Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in Trujillo between 2018 and 2022. The cases consisted of women with confirmed diagnosis of breast carcinoma, while the controls were those without such diagnosis. The prevalence of NAFLD in both groups was examined and compared. The odds ratio (OR) was calculated, along with 95% confidence intervals, with a statistically significant difference defined as p <0.05. Results: Out of the 118 medical records, they were divided into 59 with breast carcinoma and 59 without this diagnosis. The presence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease proved to be a risk factor for breast cancer (OR: 4.74; 95% CI: 2.02 - 11.09). The most frequent type of carcinoma was invasive ductal carcinoma, representing 28.8% of the cases. In the analysis of the intervening variables, only anemia (OR: 2.76; 95% CI: 1.04 - 70.33) showed a significant association. Conclusion: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a risk factor for breast cancer, while the presence of anemia is an associated factor
