The objective of this work was to determine the relationship between free play and meaningful learning in children at the initial level of private educational institutions in Trujillo, 2022. This research was of a correlational-descriptive type, which was considered a population of 105 students between the age of three to five years from private educational institutions in Trujillo, in order to learn more about the variables in the school stage. The checklist designed with 20 items was used as data collection instruments, which was applied to each student. Regarding the results, it was obtained that there is a highly significant direct relationship between free play and learning, with a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a Spearman correlation of 0.456. On the other hand, at the level of free play, It was found that 1% had a high level, 4.2% had a medium level and only 94.8% had a low level. Likewise, the level of significant learning was 2.1% had a high level, 11.5% had a medium level and only 86.5% had a low level. which concludes that educators do not fully participate in planning strategies that allow children to build their knowledge. It is recommended to teachers that to acquire adequate learning they must use free play and thus create experiences in their lives.
