Knowing that the placental transmission of ZIKA virus is true, and that it only manifests itself clinically in 25% of infected people, the risk that a pregnant woman has no symptoms and that without anyone noticing it, infecting the fetus, is real, with everything that implies the congenital syndrome due to the ZIKA virus. Detecting pregnant women infected by ZIKA, asymptomatic is a peremptory need. AIM. Determine if the urine test is a useful test to detect ZIKA infection in asymptomatic pregnant women in the endemic area of Piura in the year 2019. MATERIAL AND METHODS. A sample was obtained by saturation of all pregnant women who attended the I-4 Castilla establishment during the year 2019 and a non-experimental, cross-sectional, comparative, prospective study was carried out evaluating the validity of the urine RT-PCR test of asymptomatic pregnant women RESULTS Our sample was 134 pregnant women. Of this total, 88 (65.67%) met the definition of a suspected case of ZIKA and 46 of them (34.33%) had no symptoms. 61.2% of pregnant women said they did not use a condom during their sexual intercourse and of these, 21 (25.6%) had a positive result for detection of ZIKA in urine. The sensitivity of the urine test to detect ZIKA infection in pregnant women without symptoms was 13.63%. The specificity of 61.60%; the positive predictive value of 6.52% and the negative predictive value of 78.41%. CONCLUSION. It is not possible to detect ZIKA infections in asymptomatic pregnant women, using the technique of urine RT-PCR.
