The objective. Trends in sepsis mortality over time in randomised sepsis trials: a systematic literature review and meta of this study was to determine if anisocytosis is an associated factor of mortality in adult patients over 18 years of age with a diagnosis of septic shock during the period 2018 - 2022. Materials and methods: An observational, analytical, and retrospective case- control study was carried out on adult patients over 18 years of age treated in the internal medicine emergency service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo between 2018-2022. The diagnosis of septic shock was recorded, to later distinguish patients whose record reported death or discharge, showing whether there was presence of anisocytosis. Results: The study included a total of 272 patients who were treated for septic shock, it was evident that those who died 64.7% (88) had anisocytosis, and 35.3% (48) did not present anisocytosis, likewise the patients who survived were 45.6% ( 62) presented anisocytosis, and 54.4% (74) did not have anisocytosis, after comparing this result it was shown that anisocytosis does have an association with mortality with a (p 0.002), in turn it was shown that anisocytosis is a risk factor , with an OR 2.19 95% CI (1.34 -3.56). Conclusions: Anisocytosis is a factor associated with mortality in patients with septic shock at the Bélen Hospital in Trujillo, as well as the variables age, Sofa, Apache II and cardiovascular origin, while the variables sex, acidosis, hyponatremia, leukopenia, plateletopenia, hypoalbuminemia, comorbidity and number of comorbidities were not associated with mortality.
