presentaron hipoalbuminemia y 100 pacientes no presentaron
hipoalbuminemia.
2
=0.147 y
p=0.701 RR = 1.041 IC 95% 0.843 – 1.288).
To determine if hypoalbuminemia is a predictor of mortality in adult patients with sepsis. METHOD: An observational, analytical, retrospective cohort study was carried out, with the review of 265 medical records, of which 165 patients presented hypoalbuminemia and 100 patients did not present hypoalbuminemia. All the medical records included in the study contained the inclusion criteria and belonged to the Medicine and ICU area of the Trujillo Regional Teaching Hospital. RESULTS: Of the 265 medical records evaluated, 165 presented hypoalbuminemia, of which 59.4% died and 40.6% survived. On the other hand, of the 100 patients who did not present hypoalbuminemia, 57% died and the remaining 43% survived. When these results were subjected to the criteria independence test, it was obtained that there is no significant relationship between the variables of hypoalbuminemia and mortality (x 2 = 0.147 and p = 0.701 RR = 1.041 IC 95% 0.843 – 1.288). The variables of sex, serum lactate, septic shock and acute respiratory failure, are considered significant variables, with a p <0.05. CONCLUSION: Hypoalbuminemia is not a prognostic factor for mortality in adult patients with sepsis.
