To verify if family dysfunctionality is associated with alcohol consumption in students of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego, Piura - 2020. Methods: Observational, analytical, and cross-sectional study. A sample of 400 participants belonging to the student community of Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego, Piura was calculated. A stratified simple random sampling was applied to obtain a representative sample of each faculty. The instruments used were the Family APGAR test and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Questionnaire (AUDIT). Results: 400 participants were surveyed, resulting (using the chi square test =47.167) that alcohol consumption is significantly related to family dysfunction. It was determined that alcohol consumption is similar in both women and men, but the latter show greater risk consumption, 38% compared to 32.7% of the female sex, while consumption without risk is reflected a little more in female students, resulting 57.2% compared to 50.5% of men. Conclusions: Alcohol consumption is significantly related (Sig.<0.05) to family dysfunction, finding among some results that severe and moderate dysfunction is much higher in the group that shows dependence on alcohol consumption, 29.6% and 14.8 %, respectively.
