The purpose of this research is to design the reinforcement of the flexible pavement on the Jaen - Shumba airport road, firstly, by analyzing the condition of the pavement through a visual inspection using the PCI (PAVIMENT CONDITION INDEX) method, determining the faults in the pavement, classifying the faults found according to their severity and size, by means of the corrected deduced values, the condition of the pavement was determined, obtaining 29. 73, indicating that the condition is BAD; the second step is to find the ESAL projecting the pavement to 20 years, a traffic study was made according to the type of vehicle and the number of axles of this during a week 24 hours a day, then the IMDa and the load supported by axle of all light and heavy vehicles is found, thus finding the design ESAL 15,000,000; the third step is to make a structural analysis of the pavement by means of the Benkelman beam test, calculating the deflections corrected by seasonal factor and temperature and with data to calculate the characteristic deflection of the right and left lane, which are 78.19 and 115.62 respectively; and the last step, to design the thickness of the asphalt concrete reinforcement using the criteria of the asphalt institute through abacuses and interpolating the values of the characteristic deflection and thus find the thickness for the right lane and for the left lane
